Friday, August 26, 2022

Victorian Minister for Industry Support and Recovery The Hon. Ben Carroll MP has opened Hanwha Defence Australia’s new corporate headquarters at 550 Bourke Street, Melbourne.

“Hanwha opening its Australian headquarters in Melbourne is testament to the strength and competitiveness of our defence sector as well as our attractiveness as an investment destination,” Minister Carroll said. “Establishing a headquarters in Melbourne is another milestone in Victoria’s partnership with Hanwha and we look forward to the company creating more skilled local jobs.”

“This new facility brings together our diverse workforce, with room to grow,” HDA Managing Director Richard Cho said. “With the growth of the company and a focus on hybrid work, this new office allows our workforce to work safely and securely on our growing range of programs.”

The new office space in the heart of Melbourne brings together all the corporate and technical functions in the company at one site. The company will maintain its workshop at Laverton until the completion of the H-ACE (Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence) in Q4 2025. Building of that facility begins in Q3 2022, creating over 100 local construction jobs during the build program.

“The partnership between Hanwha Defence Australia and the Victorian Government is a strong one,” Mr Cho said. “Their support for the H-ACE and our successful application for the Supply Chain Uplift grant program are excellent examples of industry and government working together. I would like to thank the Victorian Government for their support of HDA in bringing high technology and manufacturing skills to Australia.”
